DR-DOS is a disk operating system for IBM PC compatibles, originally developed by Gary A. Kildall's Digital Research, Inc. and derived from Concurrent PC DOS 6.0, which was an advanced successor of CP/M-86. Upon its introduction in 1988, it was the first DOS that attempted to be compatible with IBM PC DOS and MS-DOS. Its first release was version 3.31, named so that it would match MS-DOS's then-current version. DR DOS 5.0 was released in 1990 as the first to be sold in retail; it was critically acclaimed and led to DR DOS becoming the main rival to Microsoft's MS-DOS, who quickly responded with its own MS-DOS 5.0 but releasing over a year later. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original. A remix, also sometimes called reorchestration or rework, is a piece of media which has been altered or contorted from its original state by adding, removing, or changing pieces of the item. A song, piece of artwork, book, poem, or photograph can be remixes. The only characteristic of a remix is that it appropriates and changes other materials to create something new. Most commonly, remixes are a subset of audio mixing (recorded music), audio mixing in music and song recordings. ''Version'' is the second studio album by British producer Mark Ronson, first released on 16 April 2007 through Allido and Columbia Records. It is an album of cover versions featuring a retro-inspired sound that Ronson considers to be reminiscent of Motown and Stax releases. The album cost more than £870,000 to launch. ''Version'' reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and has sold 105,584 copies as of January 2015. Reception Critical Critical response to the album was generally positive. Alexis Petridis of The Guardian claimed "He really hit commercial paydirt in the world of gobby, femme-fronted British pop, working on Lily Allen's Alright, Still and Amy Winehouse's Back To Black. ''Versions'' is the fourth studio album by the American metalcore band Poison the Well (band), Poison the Well, released on April 3, 2007. Recorded with producers Eskil Lövström and Pelle Henricsson in Umeå, Sweden, work on the album commenced in May 2005, whilst Poison the Well were still under contract with Atlantic Records. In 2006, the band parted ways with Atlantic over creative differences and signed to Ferret Music, after which they completed the rest of the album in November and December that year.
